Jeanne B. Lillie, Past President

Jeanne joined the club in 2009, sponsored by Past President, Rich LaVallee.  As well as being President, she is the club’s scheduler for use of the Sightmobile, receives donated glasses from collection boxes throughout town(with the help of Lion, Lee Ayotte) and from Worcester drop-off sights, is a member of one of the Meat Raffle Teams, and serves on the board of directors for Mass. Lions Eye Research Foundation since 2014.

She has received the Presidents Award in June 2010, the Joseph R. Protano Award in February 2012, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in June 2012 and the Sight Award in 2014.

Since 2001, Jeanne has gone on a medical mission trip to La Romana in the Dominican Republic with various groups from The Good Samaritan Mission Council for 1-2 weeks each year.  While there she gives reading, distance, bifocal, safety and sunglasses out, which were donated in the Lions Club’s various drop boxes.  She also checks eye pressures for glaucoma, checks for pterygium and pingueculae, and for cataracts.  When available she will also give out eye drops.

Jeanne worked for 30 years as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant at Worcester Ophthalmology Assoc. Inc., and is currently a Realtor.  She graduated from Millbury High School and Quinsigamond Community Collge.

Having lived most of her life in Millbury, she enjoys helping not only those in town, but also in surrounding communities and abroad.  Jeanne is married to Patrick and has one stepdaughter, Nicole, and one stepson, Stephen.

Amy Paquette-Riordan
First Vice President

Millbury Lion since Nov. 2, 2015

Amy was born in Worcester and lived in Millbury her entire life. She attended Millbury High School and Becker College-Worcester Campus.

Amy decided to join the Millbury Lions Club to help give back to the community in which she was raised.

Amy has two siblings and two sons who were also all raised in Millbury and  graduated from Millbury High School. She currently has one granddaughter and belongs to a close and supportive family.

Amy is currently involved with the Meat Raffle, Website and Carnival Committees. She is extremely proud of the work that she does with the club and is thankful for such a caring and close knit community.

She strongly believes in the club motto “Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion”.  She is working hard to recruit more women into the club and would like to see at least a five percent increase over the next year.

The club is a second family and committed to all they do for our community and also for Mass Lion Eye Research.

 

 

Donald (DJ) Welch
Treasurer

D.J. joined the Millbury Lions Club in September 2006, sponsored by his late father Don Welch Sr. who served as the club’s President from 2000-2001. A proud recipient of the prestigious Melville Jones Fellowship, D.J. currently serves as the Club’s Treasurer, a position he has held since 2015. He also served as the Club’s President from 2013-2015 and had been a member of the Board of Directors since 2009.

In 2012, D.J. was instrumental in helping the Club become a recognized 501(c)(3) organization, which provides additional opportunities to further raise revenues for the purpose of sight, eye research, diabetes, education, and other charitable purposes.

D.J. is currently a Director of Tax Reporting & Compliance at CVS Health Corporation, responsible for CVS’ Consolidated U.S. interim and annual tax reporting functions as well as the tax risk management of the company’s federal audit function.

D.J. received his Master’s degree in Taxation from Bryant University and his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Bryant University.

Don is married to Jenn, who is also a member of the Millbury Lions and they have three children together.

William J. Kane, Sr.
Membership Chairman

William J. Kane, Sr. was born and raised in Worcester, MA. He is married to Judith Freerking. They have four children and five grand children.

Bill is a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College. He has been a member of I.B,E.W. Local 96 for the past 53 years, and he was employed by Coghlin Electrical Contractors as a foreman electrician for 37 years, retiring in 2002.

Bill moved to Millbury in 1967. He has been a member of Millbury Lions Club since 1985 with 33 years perfect attendance. He served as President from 1988-1991 and served as Treasurer from 2005 to 2015 and currently serves as Membership Chairman. He was instrumental in founding the first District 33A Lions Sightmobile and served as President from 1991-1993 and as Treasurer from 2004-2006. He has also served as Zone Chairman and Region Chairman for District 33A Lions Clubs. Bill is the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, the highest award in Lionism, and has also received the Joseph J. Camarda Award, Lion of the Year Award, Sight Award from Massachusetts Lions Research Fund, Inc. and numerous other club recognition awards.
